Bran writes the lyrics for the most part, but after playing the music long enough, I feel like the words start to speak for all of us. This is a pretty good example for me. -Paul

It’s been six months since I’ve started this notebook, it started out with losing a friend but things got better in the end, because life has a way of working itself out for the better. I just wanted to end this off on the right foot, never letting irony get the best of us. I’ve lost so many pages since I’ve started off as though someone’s trying to get me to forget this ever happened, but I won’t forget. These scars made me who I am.

Every Gollum Needs a Smeagol

~For Topher, Dylan, Marshall’s car, and East Glenville. This is the closing of the themes and stories running throughout the EP. It shows that things don’t get better, but you can always learn better ways of how to deal with them. Keep fighting.- Bran’s Original notes on the lyrics.

Lyrics:

Maybe I need to calm down, 3 bucks round trip isn’t that much anyway. I can’t stand to see myself like this but it’s who I really am, not who I want to be. Fireman’s Grove is burning down because I no longer feel successful there. That Taco Bell in Clifton Park is where we almost got hit pulling out of the driveway. Marshall’s car got stuck on a curb like I used to get stuck at bus stops. He got hitched off by a truck but I’m landlocked. You think you’re tough but that’s not enough so just shut up. Late night talks with Dylan over games of pool didn’t teach me much but they kept me cool. The house on the oddly named street that held the parties is where I got lost. My beer pong partner was pretty wasted because she drank for me and I got lost in the irony because I don’t drink but the alcohol still managed to screw me. This town keeps me together but it always feels dead. Walking down the main strip reminds me of the times that lie ahead. We’re burning up and falling off the trains that run near Stevens. They’re going by so slow. It’s time to realize I belong anywhere but here. You think you’re tough but that’s not enough so just shut up. I can’t believe that this has happened to me, I guess that I was just being naive because no matter how different we say we are, we’re all just the same. I can’t keep my head on straight, I’m in a 5 Guys bathroom in a state of anxiety that’s be plaguing me this past week.

An oldie but a goodie in my book. We hardly play this one anymore, and I’m pretty sure we sought out to destroy all copies of this demo CD, but we’ve been known to whip it out as a surprise every now and then. -Paul

Probably my favorite song of ours, specifically because I got to smash a bass after we finished playing it one night. -Paul

I know that we can’t believe in anything. No future, it’s something we against our better judgment let ourselves slip into with ease. I’ll blame myself for this one, chalk it up to bad decisions but I know I’ll live to see one more day. I’ll live to see myself be happy. I just can’t be alone tonight. It’s like we’re cheating the system. I guess it’s me, wishing more upon myself than I can receive. My selfish tendencies leave me assuming that you want the same fucking thing.

Us at Bogie’s this past Saturday for our homecoming show. Felt good to be back in Albany with some hometown friends.

There’s one more show tomorrow at Bogie’s. I can’t wait to see all of my Albany friends there. The past two weeks have been nothing but incredible for us. Thank you so much to every person who let us crash on their floor, came out and saw us, shook our hand, picked up a CD, fed us, etc. Special thanks to Gage at Still Alive Clothing and Doses. We love all of you, seriously. Can’t wait to do it again.
